Erin BurtMay 8, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Graphic design major Erin Burt earned top honors at the 2018 American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs. Her work on the Gotham Typeface Brochure earned her a Silver ADDY, considered a second-place award.

"We are so proud of this accomplishment for Erin,” said Gigi Turner, chair and associate professor of Belhaven's Graphic Design Department. “She is a very talented designer with a bright future ahead of her.”

Burt, a senior from Detroit, Mich., has already earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 2015, and returned to Belhaven to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After graduating with her communications degree, she worked in the Jackson's news industry for WJTV Channel 12. She hopes to work for a magazine and operate her own business, one day.

This competition is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year from local club competitions. The AAF competition is meant to recognize and reward the creative spirit of excellence in the art of advertising, and all across the country, students work hard to win a coveted ADDY Award.
