Nursing, Business, and Education Programs Earn National Recognition

JACKSON, Miss. (November 5, 2025) - Colleges of Distinction (COD) has honored Belhaven University’s School of Nursing, School of Business, and School of Education for their outstanding commitment to academic excellence, hands-on learning, and student success.

These top distinctions recognize programs that provide rigorous academics while connecting classroom learning with real-world experience.

“Belhaven’s School of Education is helping address Mississippi’s teacher shortage by preparing highly qualified, compassionate, and classroom-ready educators,” said Dr. David Hand, dean of the School of Education. “Guided by a Christian worldview, our programs emphasize both excellence and service—developing teachers who lead with integrity and make a lasting difference in their students’ lives.”

COD also commended Belhaven for equipping students to succeed both during and after their college years, entering the workforce with critical thinking skills, adaptability, and strong values.

“Our business programs focus on more than technical competence,” said Dr. Brett Andrews, dean of the School of Business. “We shape men and women who lead with character, courage, and service. Employers consistently tell us Belhaven graduates stand out because they combine professional skills with integrity and a desire to make a positive impact. I am grateful for our faculty, who invest deeply in our students and challenge them to pursue excellence in every aspect of their calling.”

COD evaluates institutions based on accreditation, program depth, advising and mentorship, career preparation, and student success outcomes. The organization recognizes schools that provide a personalized and well-rounded undergraduate education.

“This recognition reflects our dedication to excellence, compassion, and Christ-centered service,” said Dr. Tangie Hales, dean of the School of Nursing. “Our faculty mentor students to lead with integrity and empathy. We are preparing the next generation of nurses to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care with a servant’s heart.”
