Welcome Week 2026 to Kick Off a New Academic Year at Belhaven University
JACKSON, Miss. (July 22, 2026) — Belhaven University will officially welcome students back to campus during Welcome Week 2026, taking place August 13-22, with events designed to help new and returning students build friendships, discover campus resources, and begin the academic year with confidence. "Welcome Week is one of the most exciting times of the year because it marks the beginning of a new chapter for our students," said Dr. Shelley Smith, Vice President for Student Development. "Whether students are arriving on campus for the first time or returning for another year, these events are designed to help them feel connected, supported, and at home. Our goal is to create meaningful experiences that foster community and set students up for success both inside and outside the classroom."
"With more than 25 events planned throughout the week, students will have countless opportunities to enjoy free food, win prizes, discover campus organizations, and build lasting friendships," Smith added. "We want every student to find their place in the Belhaven community from day one."
Highlights of Welcome Week include Kickin' It with Campus Recreation, Discover Jackson Tours, Majors Meet & Greet, Movie Night, Ultimate Frisbee, the Belhaven Block Party, Welcome Back Coffee & Tea, and Blazer Community Connect, along with a variety of campus and community engagement activities.In addition to social events, Welcome Week helps students prepare for the semester through academic advising, faculty-led sessions, and orientation activities. Students will also have opportunities to complete important campus business, including obtaining their student ID cards, mailbox keys, parking decals, and any remaining enrollment materials before classes begin.
