Belhaven’s Majors Fair Helps Students Explore Academic and Career Opportunities

JACKSON, Miss. (October 1, 2026) — Belhaven University will host its annual Majors Fair on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. outside in front of the Student Center. Held before spring preregistration, the event helps students explore academic programs and connect their interests with potential career paths.

The fair is designed for students enrolled in BU 101: Belhaven Basics and other underclassmen considering a change of major or the addition of a minor. Students in BU 102: Transfer Success can also benefit from learning how a minor can complement their major, broaden their skills, and strengthen their résumé.

“Choosing a major is an important decision, and it is normal for students to explore their options as they discover new interests,” said Claire Langley, director of Belhaven’s Center for Career and Calling. “The Majors Fair gives students an opportunity to learn more about our programs in one place and see how their academic choices can support their career goals.”
Students will meet professors and upperclassmen from departments across campus, ask questions about career opportunities associated with each major, and learn about electives and minors before planning their spring schedules.

“Speaking directly with professors and students offers a valuable perspective on what a program involves,” Langley added. “These conversations can help students feel more confident in their direction or introduce them to a major, minor, or elective they had not considered.”
