Student and Alumni Spotlights for the Theatre Program

Ethan Polson, Theatre Major

Name: Noelle Balzer
Major: BFA Acting
Hometown: Baton Rouge, La.
Fact: I love dogs more than most humans. Just kidding . . . kinda.

I chose to come to Belhaven because...I wanted a small, Christian university that would provide a safe, nurturing environment to study and practice theatre. I did not want to be just another number in school; I wanted to create meaningful relationships and receive as much one-on-one instruction as possible.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven...The friendship I have built with my fellow classmate, CJ Riggs, holds a special place in my heart. We hit it off on the first day of theatre camp and quickly became best friends while working together on all three of the shows I was cast in my freshman year. It is people like CJ that make the department what it is—a family.

Because of my degree from Belhaven University...In addition to knowing about all aspects of theatre, I will be prepared to enter a secular industry as a Christian artist. I appreciate Belhaven’s encouragement to stay strong in my convictions and produce redemptive work. I will also have an idea of what it is like to be a working actress thanks to many guest artists who came to share their wisdom during my time at Belhaven.

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: FULL! Full of fun, hard work, and people who love Jesus!
