What is Financial Aid: Financial aid for college is monetary assistance designed to help students pay for educational expenses like tuition, fees, room and board, books, and supplies. Financial aid can include grants and scholarships (which do not need to be repaid), work-study opportunities (on-campus jobs), and loans (which are repaid over time).
What is the FAFSA? It gives you access to the largest source of financial aid to help pay for college. In addition, your FAFSA information determines your eligibility for state and school aid.
Add Belhaven to the list of schools to receive your results. Our code is: 002397
What financial aid forms do I need to submit? Inside BlazeNet, you will need to complete your financial aid checklist. This is where you will submit university policy and payment forms as well as submit verification if required. You can find this checklist under the “Financial Info” tab in BlazeNet.
What is a Financial Award Letter? A financial aid award letter is a document from our Financial Aid office detailing the types and amounts of financial assistance (grants, scholarships, loans, work-study) you're offered to help pay for your education, alongside the total Cost of Attendance and your estimated out-of-pocket costs.
What is Financial Aid Verification? Financial Aid Verification is a federal process that confirms the information submitted on your FAFSA is accurate. If you are selected, don’t worry, as many students are chosen at random. Simply upload the requested documents to BlazeNet as soon as possible so your aid can be finalized.
When do I need to fill out these forms? As soon as possible to help ensure you receive the most money you qualify for.
Who do I contact if I have questions about financial aid? You can reach the financial aid office at 601-968-5933 or studentaid@belhaven.edu.
If you haven't already, confirm your enrollment by paying the enrollment deposit.
What is the Enrollment Deposit? Submitting your $100 enrollment deposit confirms your place in the incoming class and allows you to move forward with housing, orientation, and class registration. Please note, the funds are applied to the first semester's tuition.
When do I submit the Enrollment Deposit? This should ideally be done by January 31, but will be accepted on a rolling basis thereafter. What is the Housing Application? The housing application, available from BlazeNet, is the portal where you submit your housing application (if living on campus), select your room and connect with possible roommates
When do I fill out the housing application? Starting March 1, students can log in and complete the housing application with their personal and housing information. Completing the application makes you eligible to participate in room selection. Priority room selection is available March 30th, and general room selection is available April 1st each year. Please note that even if your application shows as “Complete,” you must return to the Housing Portal to select your room. Rooms are not automatically assigned, and students who do not select a room during their selection period may have limited options.
What is the Housing Deposit? All students are required to pay a $150 residential housing deposit before they can select a room during their assigned selection period. This deposit will be applied to your residence life charges.
Where do I pay the housing deposit? The housing deposit can be paid in the payment portal through BlazeNet. You can click "payments" in the balance info widget on your dashboard or under the financial info tab.
What if I am a commuter student? If you are a commuter living with parents or legal guardians, you must submit the Housing Exemption Form instead of the application.
Who do I contact if I have questions about the housing application? Contact the Student Development office with any questions at 601-968-5969 or sdevelopment@belhaven.edu.
What other paperwork is required? Submit the following:
- Final high school and/or college transcripts. Belhaven accepts electronic transcripts via services like Parchment, Scoir, or Clearinghouse. They can also be emailed directly from your school to admission@belhaven.edu.
- Proof of two MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations
When do I submit these documents? As soon as your final grades are posted, you can send these documents to the admission office.
Where do I submit these documents? Within your admission portal or email admission@belhaven.edu. If you applied through Common App, please email your documents to admission.
Contact admission with any questions by email or call 601-968-5940.
