Name: Mandi Redmond
Major: Theatre
Hometown: West Lafayette, Ind.
Fact: I've been tap dancing for ten years now! It's my favorite style of dance to study.

I chose to come to Belhaven because... Belhaven places such a high emphasis and appreciation for the arts that is rare to find in other schools. It is difficult to find colleges that have a strong foundation in their beliefs that also encourages their students to pursue the arts as a career. The fifth-year free promise for double majors is an added perk that I knew I wanted to take advantage of and allows me to pursue other interests outside of our wonderful theatre department.

One relationship that has meant a lot to me while attending Belhaven... Dr. Sartwell has encouraged and pushed me to grow not only as a performer but as a student interested in more academic based classes that challenge me. She works incredibly hard to ensure each student is heard and receives the best possible education, and that truly means a lot. Working with esteemed guest director John Maxwell was also an incredible experience I'll never forget, and I'll carry the lessons I learned from that for the rest of my career!

Because of my degree from Belhaven University... I feel prepared to take on a career in the arts while focusing on my values

One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Encouraging
