What Is the FAFSA?

FAFSA stands for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Fill it out online through the U.S. Department of Education. You’ll need your most recent family tax return.

Belhaven’s code: 002397. Include it to make sure we get your application quickly.

Types of Financial Aid

Scholarships reduce the cost of your education and do not have to be paid back. This assistance may be based on academic performance, legacy or transfer status, or membership in a group like the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Belhaven offers work-study positions for full-time, on-campus undergraduate students. The work-study program provides aid through on-campus or community-based jobs averaging 10 hours a week. Work-study is funded by both the university and by federal resources.

Positions are available based on financial need. On-campus positions pay $9.50 per hour, and off-campus positions pay $10 per hour. Apply by visiting BlazeNet and completing the Work-Study Application.

Federal loans, administered by the U.S. Department of Education, are common tools for funding the investment that is a university education. They do have to be paid back, so borrow carefully.
