Simple Steps to Becoming a Blazer
It’s easy to start your next chapter at Belhaven University. Our online admission process is simple — just follow our handy step-by-step guides to get started.
And if Belhaven is your top choice, be sure to check out our Early Action option. You’ll have your acceptance and financial aid award in mid-January
From High School to College
After you create your account on the first page of the easy online application form, you can complete and submit everything right away, or you can save it without losing any information so you can return to it later.
When you’re done with the form, we’ll link you to the online payment portal for the $25 application fee. Then you’re all set to track your application status through the rest of the admission process.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Submit your official academic transcripts from your high school and any other secondary institution you’ve attended. You’ll submit this information through your online application profile. The minimum GPA required is 2.0.
Your official ACT, SAT, or CLT score report, unless you are applying as “Test Optional.”
- ACT institutional code: 2180
- SAT institutional code: 1055
If you won’t be providing an ACT, SAT, or CLT score, select the “Test Optional” choice on your application. To be eligible, your high school cumulative GPA must be at least 2.75.
Be sure to check with your admission advisor before choosing this option:
- Some academic majors, including Education and Nursing, require test scores.
- We may request an academic recommendation in lieu of test scores.
Before you attend an on-campus class, you must submit proof of your up-to-date immunizations for Mumps/Measles/Rubella (MMR).
Essay, Interview, or Letter of Recommendation
For most students, this isn’t needed. If you don’t meet Belhaven’s minimum requirements for acceptance, we may ask you for an interview with an admissions advisor, a personal essay, or a letter of recommendation.
General Education Development (GED) Certificate
If you’ve earned your GED, you may be admitted. An official GED transcript must be provided from the State Department of Education of the state that issued the certificate.
You’ll need a score of at least 145 on each subject and a total score of 580 or higher across all four subjects in order to be considered for admission.

The Haven Advantage
Fuel your academic passions and expand your career options. Belhaven offers our freshmen a unique deal: double major, and we’ll pay the tuition if you need a fifth year in school. Double major in two arts programs, pair a business degree with a STEM major … the possibilities are endless!
Early Action (EA) Admission
A Great Option if Belhaven is Your Top Choice
When you apply for EA admission, you’ll receive your acceptance and financial aid award no later than January 15. This is a non-binding option — there’s no obligation for committing after you’re notified.
After you submit your EA application, you’ll receive one of two responses:
- An offer of admission and your proposed financial award; OR
- A deferral to the regular application pool. You may be asked to submit additional materials (updated grades, teacher recommendations, etc.) to the Admission Office.
If you are accepted as an EA student , we encourage you to pay your enrollment deposit by the due date. This will ensure your priority preference for course selection and housing.
Belhaven offers two Early Admission filing dates:
|Application Option||Admission Application & Financial Aid Due Date||Decision Date||Requested Deposit Date|
|Early Action I||November 16||December 15||February 1|
|Early Action II||January 15||February 15||Rolling|
Be sure to add Belhaven to your FAFSA no later than the deadlines indicated above – this allows us to determine your eligibility for financial aid eligibility at the time of acceptance.
