Traditions & Annual Events at Belhaven

This annual event is an opportunity for students to learn life skills essential for adulthood! Past topics included: How to Rent/Buy a House, How to do Your Taxes, Grilling 101, Car Maintenance, and Baking for Beginners.

Students spend a Saturday morning embodying the Belhaven motto, “To serve, not to be served.” Participants volunteer for service projects on campus and in the beautiful Belhaven neighborhood.

Students can enjoy a night off campus tent camping at Roosevelt State Park. Hosted by the Campus Recreation team, this event includes activities such as cooking s’mores, singing campfire songs, learning survival skills, and hiking.

Commuter students have a chance to meet other commuters and build community through monthly events throughout the school year. Don’t miss out on commuter lunches, movie nights, and more!

Students, faculty, and staff show off their school spirit by wearing green & gold on the First Friday of every month.

Alumni, students, parents, and families share memories, enjoy special events, build new traditions, and reunite during Belhaven’s Homecoming and Family Weekend. Events occur throughout the week, including the annual Homecoming Pep Rally and Highland Games and Homecoming Dance.

Residence Hall events are some of the most loved and attended events on Belhaven’s Campus. Each Residence Hall has its own traditional events: Caldwell Well Coffee, Tea, and Thee; Helen White Night Lights; Lakeview Carnival, University Village HallUVeen and Grill and Chill; and Welbertson Film Festival and Blacklights. Residence Halls also participate in competitive events where students battle it out at various tournaments and rivalries to take home the Belhaven House Cup!

This extravagant, off-campus evening event provides an opportunity for students to dance the night away with their friends!

Happening the first week of both the fall and spring semesters, Welcome Week is a week full of fun and purposeful activities for new and returning students. With academic, recreational, educational, and extracurricular events, there are many opportunities for students to get to know the Belhaven campus and community. The most popular Belhaven event all year, the Blazer Beach Bash, ends the Fall Welcome Week with a huge Hawaiian-themed party!

Students enjoy a fun night dressing up to a theme, playing bingo, and winning HUGE prizes!

The Belhaven Activities Team plays a pivotal role in the promotion and implementation of student events in order to foster community, increase student involvement, and build an exciting atmosphere on campus! BAT is composed of diverse, talented, active, involved and motivated students who work diligently to provide quality programming for University students.

Students can jump right in and serve in this role at any point in the academic year. If you want to find out more about being a part of BAT, contact sdevelopment@belhaven.edu.
